The lagoon of Caleri is extremely rich in biodiversity. Many species of halophytes, such as glasswort and sea-lavander, grow on its sedimentary banks. It is easy to observe many species of birds: little egrets, crested grebes, oystercatchers, pigmy cormorants. Local fishermen built in this lagoon the structures used for clam farming and, in the most oriental part, along “Via delle Valli” they built the shelters for their boats.
During this excursion we will coast the island of Albarella, then we will come back to departing point to admire one of the “pearls” of our Delta: Porto Caleri’s Botanic Garden.
